"Aqua Solaris"
oil painting - 44"X 55" 9/2002. The idea for this painting came after a trip to Harbin Hot Springs, in Northern California. Although an apparent Modernist painting, it is actually more Realist. I was under the water, in the cold pool, looking at the light from the Sun, coming through the fig-leaves above, when I noticed a brilliant magenta dot of Color, seemingly floating disembodied above me. I could not figure out what it might be, until I came up above the water, and saw a beautiful flower, that someone had placed, leaning out over the pool. It was the Summer Solstice, and I felt a magical sense of inspiration, of Presence, and thus was born....Aqua Solaris. |
