Kind of a Don Quixote quest, to see if I could find galleries in S.F., that would be interested in my work. I called on St. John. for some protection and insight (notice the T-shirt), and, strangely enough, discovered that Visionary Art is not high on anybody's list, in the S.F. art scene - at least all those places I visited. As one gallery owner said, when I told him that I was looking for a place to show - "Good luck with that!", in a rather defeatist tone.
No matter, the Quest must go on! These times are such that I know that the Public is needing Inspiration, Hope and a renewal of Faith, in so many ways. I see Visionary Art as emerging (over the last 30+ years) just when we need it - it is an expression of our recognition that maybe our attention should not be focused on the Material, which is letting us down more significantly every day, but on the Spiritual, in all it's illuminating ways.

Being basically a first draft - a chance to put it all out, and see what I have to offer. Lots of fun , few attendees.

I wanted to give back to my community, for all their support over the decades, so, I was able to slide in, for 4 days only, just to say thanks. To be able to present "The New Light Show", in Willits - what a gift.

Note to my public: It's been 10 years+ since I added to my blog, but here goes...

Sept. 25, 2022. After 40+ years, I finally finished "Crossing the Great Water", a 7'X12' painting, that I started in the 70's, in San Francisco! It represents any time we make a change in our lives, from the old self, to the new self. Enjoy!

Apri l7-29, 2023. I presented our first Visionary Arts Show, at the Main Street Gallery, in Lakeport, Ca., with Mark Henson, Nan Sea Love, Mariela de la Paz, and myself attending. I am hoping to make it a yearly event, as I am now the Creative Coordinator, at the Main Street Gallery.

April14-May7, 2023. I was so honored, for the first time, to do a complete, retrospective, one-man-show, at the wonderful Gualala Center for the Arts, in Gualala, Ca. Called
"Light and Dark", it was the first time I have ever been able to see all my oil paintings in one large room, with "The Light Series", "The New Light Show", and "Light and Dark" all easily visible. For many years now, I have been painting series of 12 Paintings each, and it was amazing to see them all in one place. Attached are pics from the show.

May 19-October 15, 2023.  I participated in a great show, at the Grace Hudson Museum, in Ukiah, Ca., called "Something's Happening Here!" The show was about the Back to the Land movement, in the 70's, and it was wonderful to show alongside many of the artists that I knew, when I was living in Willits, Ca, at that time. Unfortunately, I did not bringing my phone with me, and do not have any pics. But it was fun, to be sure!

On 2/4/2024, I finished my third in my new oil painting series,"Spectrum", called
"I will fear no Weevil", with140 hrs. work on the piece. The paintings before it are called "Ignition", 7/23, and "What's the Matter with Spirit?" 8/23.

2/25/2024  Finally, after all these years, I have copyrighted 50 of my paintings, a major step towards protecting my work, should the World ever find it considered profitable to do so! It makes me feel a great sense of accomplishment, so I can truly step onto the World Stage. Of course, this only covers the U.S., but you have to start somewhere! Thanks, everybody, for all your support, over the years.
