The Sword, the Pentacle, the Club and the Cup (which have evolved to Spades, Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts) are old symbols of the trials of Life, which must be learned and overcome by the Self, as the Spirit evolves on the Earth Plane. At the center is the Cup - Love, overflowing, and blessed by the Divine. "All the World's a stage, and all the men and women merely players" - (William Shakespeare).
